-Grapes. 100 grams of this seemingly small fruit contains only 70 calories. They also have resveratrol, a naturally occurring antioxidant that boosts the immune system and helps delay the aging process.
-Potatoes only have about 97 calories. Preparing and cooking the potatoes, however, has the tendency to impair the nutrients. Try eating them baked or boiled, but never fried (as it will absorb the oil it is fried in, making it unhealthy for a dieter’s consumption.)
-Eating healthy greens are not an option; it is a must for everyone who is seriously considering losing some unwanted weight. The perfect salad should have at least two or more of the following: lettuce, tomato, cabbage, lettuce, beetroot, bell peppers (or capsicum), and carrots. To add a little zing and flavor, you can use herb-infused butter and/or curd and lemon.
-Eggs have protein which – studies show – prevent a possible spike in blood sugar. (When blood sugar is unstable, it can lead to food cravings.)
-Fruits are also a necessary staple for the healthy dieter. Oranges, pears, apples, and grapefruit have phytochemicals and pectin fiber that helps in letting you feel full and less hungry. Plus, it is an effective way to lose weight fast.
-High fiber is great for digestion and weight loss. A lot of other countries have high fiber menus and – if you notice – they don’t have a lot of obese people in their list. So eat cereals, oats, and rice on a regular basis.
-Water is the source of life – you can live without food, but not without water. It has no calories and is perfect to curb the hunger pangs that come from seeing a platter of cake on the table. Drinking water at least 30 minutes before eating a meal makes you healthy as it is a natural detoxifier.
-Too much chocolate can kill you with sweet tooth hunger pangs. But a little will let you live. Set a day or two in a week for a small 20-gram chocolate bar. Douse it with a glass of water, and look forward to the next chocolate-spree in a couple of days.
Not all dieting plans are doomed to fail. In fact, taking note of the foods mentioned above (and eating them, mind you) is a sure way to jumpstart a good routine – healthy eating, no vices like smoking or alcohol, and a good-for-the-heart lifestyle is just what everyone needs to be fit and strong
